It’s always good to keep tabs on the work of the actors involved in our favourite franchise so lets talk about the American World Pictures adaptation of the comic series “Paradox” starring Kevin Sorbo but featuring a good role for Chris Judge.

The story centers around a murder which takes place on a version of Earth where magic underpins the entire world, everything is done with magic including cell phones, forensics, weapons etc etc and it’s science that is considered the “fringe” belief.
When the murder is committed with no trace of magical input Sean Nault (Kevin) investigates and uses his belief in science to explore avenues others would not consider, aided by his Captain (Chris Judge) and the coroner Helen played by Alisen Down (SGU, BSG, Smallville) and a science practitioner played by Steph Song (Smallville) he discovers a conspiracy which goes beyond his own reality!

I enjoyed this movie and I think any fan of SG1 and SGA (maybe not so much SGU) will enjoy it as well as seeing Chris in a more recent production still looking badass:)

While searching for a crashed UAV the guys are captured by an a bounty hunter who intends to trade them to a system lord or use them to capture a more valuable prize whose identity causes more complications.
The episode features Sam Jones who is perhaps most well known for playing Flash Gordon in the movie a couple of decades ago and he plays the bounty hunter Aris Boch to perfection. We are also introduced to our first look at the Tel’tak cargo vessel which features strongly as the workhorse of the Goauld and independent fleets and we meet a new Tokra by the name of Korra played by Mark Holden.

Sokar is once again an element of the story which fuels his role as this season big bad.
This was a decent episode, a good character played well by Sam was the key and it was clear that SG1 has been very lucky in the past, a dedicated professional took them out easily while the more emotional and head strong system lords and followers continually fail.

Their representative Merrin and expert on power generation happens is only a young girl and other children are the focal point of information exchange leading to a clash of cultures.

A good episode to watch but not ideal to comment on since it was very visual with a lot of picture tells a thousand words scenes, still a good working of a plot that quite common in Trek, humans putting their own view points ahead of those of another people.

Merrin played by Brittney Irvin was excellent and has gone onto a very good career in television and Andrew Airlie (Defying Gravity, Reaper) is one of those actors you always recognise if not always able to name:)

<itunes:summary>The SGC and the people of the planet Orban agree to exchange tech and information but a stumbling block is discovered thanks to the unique way the Orban educate their people.

The season finale pits the devious, ruthless and resourceful Kiva against Young and for the most part her willingness to kill anyone and sure knowledge the SGC forces will not gives her the edge. Complications arise with the Destiny in the path of gamma and x-ray bursts from a Neutron star which is hampering the FTL capability. Lucky for them that Eli is wandering the ship and is in a position to influence the events being unknown to Kiva.

The final scenes of the first season with TJ in a bloody mess, Telford seemingly dead and the military personal about to be executed was stunningly done, a very good second half to the shows initial run.

Aided by George Hammond with hair they escape and seek out the location of the Stargate and if they can get back at a particular time they can return to 1999 and the SGC they remember.

1969 is one of the better episodes of the second season, ranks high up in the whole series to be honest. It’s pure time travel scifi with lots of humour, you’ve got to love hippy SG1. The young Hammond played by Aaron Pearl was flawless both in looks and voice pattern, you really believed that was George as a young lieutenant. Michael and Jenny the hippy couple were excellent giving us the grounding in this world and offered us the emotive aspect of the story. Daniel being German was just priceless though but again continuity with Catherine was flawless.

The montage music was created for this episode by Bruce Turgon formally of Foreigner.

The first of two part finale as we see the resolution to the interrogation of Telford and Rush preparing the LA gate for connecting to the Destiny. Once again we see how the inclusion of familiar faces from SG1 really adds to the atmosphere of the story and come on seeing Sam and her 303 gearing up for combat brings back all those good memories.

The LA board Destiny thanks to Rush but out of character (or was it) Young refuses to kill them all by venting the atmosphere as Telford was with him, it would be nice to think Young is mellowing but perhaps too early for that. It’s great to Rhona Mitra (Kiva) kick ass (come on we all fell for her as Lara Croft) and the mystery walk about by Eli and Chloe plus the spooky flesh burning radiance are really building up the expectations for the finale.

Of course the big question is why do the LA want the Destiny, it’s slower than their existing fleets, it’s weaponry is inferior so what do they know we don’t..

Key Points…

Trust

Show and Tell was a decent episode, the Reetou to me anyway seemed very Starship Troopers like which isn’t a bad thing as the CGI effects worked well enough.

We get an episode which in the style of MGM/Syfy certainly looks like an exercise in budget control, not a bad thing especially as we tend to get an uber pay off this close to the season wrap up.

Pain is very much an apt title as a number of the crew have hallucinations which deal with their emotional issues such as James and her feelings of betrayal by Scott or Scott himself and the son he has only met via a proxy. It’s a very tense episode even when you figure the main narrative out but it makes full use of the subdued lighting of the ship and confined spaces.

A surprisingly good episode as we deal with the series original nemesis who has been turned on by his own, as is mentioned so many times the System Lords are just as aggressive against eachother and weakness is exploited. Apophis played wonderfully again by Peter Williams has let the SGC run wild and is suffering the consequences but as we see the host has also suffered centuries of abuse and the play off between the hatred for one and the compassion for the other is done very well.

Not officially a three parter but the ramifications of the missing crew and the lack of energy and resources to cross the galactic void come to a point. The stones are used to bring an expert in Hyperspace tech in an effort to increase the engines efficiency but a mysterious explosion takes out one engine module. As the title suggests this was no accident and we deal with the fall out amongst the crew including the woman inhabiting Camille’s body and the threat posed by the Aliens who are set to return.

Excellent episode and the writing for Amanda was fantastic as she learnt how to use a body again and back on Earth how Camille was willing to accept anything to see her love again not to mention once again showing us Rush used to be a very different person.
When the ship enters normal space Rush and James start to gate jump back in an effort to reach the planet while after a cave and Greer flashbacks Scott, Eli and Chloe all gate away trying to catch up with Destiny. Now this was a good episode both in how smoothly it flowed by also the ending, the bulking up of Greer’s character with his troubles as a young boy/man explained a lot.
